Brake Repair

Brake inspection, pad replacement, rotor service and fluid maintenance for most makes and models.

What Our Brake Service Covers

Brakes are a safety system — when something doesn't feel right, it's worth having it looked at. At Triplet Auto Repair, brake inspections start with a visual assessment of pad thickness, rotor condition, caliper function, and brake fluid. We'll walk you through what we find and give you a written estimate before any work begins.

Brake caliper and rotor inspection

The Repair Process

1
Visual Inspection

With the wheel removed, we check pad thickness, rotor surface condition, caliper slide pin movement, and look for signs of brake fluid leaks.

2
Measurement & Assessment

Rotor thickness is measured with a micrometer. Pads are measured for remaining friction material. We check against manufacturer minimums, not just appearance.

3
Written Estimate

Before any parts are ordered, we'll explain what we found and provide a written estimate. You decide what you'd like done and when.

4
Parts & Installation

We install quality pads and rotors, lubricate slide pins, and bed in the brakes with a test drive before returning your vehicle.

5
Fluid Check

Brake fluid condition and level are checked as part of every brake service. Fluid that has absorbed moisture has a lower boiling point and may be flagged for replacement.

Warning Signs to Watch For

  • Squealing or squeaking when applying the brakes
  • Grinding or metal-on-metal sound during braking
  • Brake pedal feels soft, spongy, or travels further than usual
  • Vehicle pulls to one side when braking
  • Steering wheel or brake pedal vibrates during stops
  • Brake warning light illuminated on the dashboard
  • Increased stopping distance compared to normal

When to Schedule Service

Brake pads typically last between 25,000 and 65,000 km depending on driving style, vehicle type, and conditions. City driving shortens that considerably. Most vehicles have a brake wear indicator that produces a squealing sound when pads are near the end of their service life — that's the signal to book an inspection, not to defer it.

Rotors can often be reused if they're within minimum thickness and don't have deep scoring. In some cases, replacement is more cost-effective than resurfacing, especially on thinner rotors from higher-mileage vehicles.

Book a Brake Inspection

If you're noticing any of the symptoms described, it's worth having a technician take a look. Brake inspections are quick and give you an accurate picture of what's needed.
