A Local Shop with an Experienced Team

Triplet Auto Repair has been operating in Abbotsford since 2008. What started as a small two-bay operation has grown into a full-service workshop with five bays, diagnostic equipment, and a team of Red Seal certified technicians.

We work on most makes and models — domestic and import — and handle everything from routine maintenance to more involved mechanical repairs. Our approach is straightforward: tell you what we find, explain your options, and let you decide how to proceed.

We don't upsell services you don't need. If something can wait, we'll say so. If it needs attention now, we'll show you why.

Is Your Vehicle Due for Service?

Answer five quick questions about your driving habits and what you've noticed recently. Based on your answers, we'll give you a general idea of whether your vehicle is likely overdue for any maintenance.

This is meant as a general guide, not a diagnosis. A proper inspection by a technician is the only way to know for certain what your vehicle needs.

How Well Do You Know Your Vehicle?

Five questions covering common automotive topics — from warning lights to maintenance intervals. Select an answer to move to the next question, and see how you score at the end.

Not sure about something? Our maintenance guides cover many of these topics in detail.

When Should You Service Your Vehicle?

Manufacturer maintenance intervals vary by vehicle, but these are general guidelines applicable to most modern passenger cars and light trucks in Canadian driving conditions. Click each item for more detail.

Schedule a Service
Every 5,000 – 7,500 km
Engine Oil & Filter Change

Conventional oil typically every 5,000 km; full synthetic can often go to 7,500–10,000 km depending on the vehicle.

Skipping oil changes causes sludge buildup and accelerates engine wear. It's the single most impactful maintenance item for engine longevity.
Every 20,000 – 30,000 km
Air Filter Replacement

More often in dusty or high-traffic conditions. A clogged air filter reduces engine performance and fuel efficiency.

Both engine and cabin air filters should be inspected at this interval. Cabin filters affect your heating and A/C system efficiency.
Every 25,000 – 50,000 km
Brake Inspection

Brake pad life varies significantly based on driving style and conditions. City driving wears brakes faster than highway use.

Pads, rotors, and brake fluid all have service intervals. Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time and should be tested or replaced every 2–3 years.
Spring & Fall
Seasonal Maintenance Check

BC winters are mild in the lower mainland, but seasonal checks on battery, tires, wipers, and fluid levels remain worthwhile.

We recommend a pre-winter inspection in October/November covering battery load test, coolant freeze protection, tire tread depth, and wiper condition.
Every 60,000 – 100,000 km
Timing Belt / Spark Plugs / Transmission Service

Higher-mileage service items. Check your owner's manual for your specific vehicle's intervals — these vary widely.

Timing belt failure can cause severe engine damage. If your vehicle uses a belt (rather than a chain), it's one of the most important intervals to follow.

Customer Reviews

A selection of reviews from customers who have brought their vehicles to us over the years.

"Brought my 2016 Civic in for a brake inspection after noticing some grinding. They had it on the hoist within an hour, walked me through what they found, and gave me a written estimate before starting anything. The work was done by the next morning. No surprises on the invoice."

Marcus T.

Abbotsford, BC · Honda Civic

"I've been coming here for about four years now. They've handled oil changes, a wheel bearing, and most recently a coolant system issue on my truck. They're straightforward about what needs doing and what can wait. That kind of honesty is hard to find."

Linda C.

Mission, BC · Ford F-150

"Check engine light came on during a road trip. They got me in the same day, ran the diagnostic, and found a faulty O2 sensor. Parts were ordered and the car was ready the next afternoon. Communication throughout was good — they called when they said they would."

Derek H.

Langley, BC · Toyota Corolla

"Had my suspension looked at after noticing the car was bouncing more than usual on rough roads. Turned out both front struts were worn out. They explained the difference between strut assemblies and individual components, and we went with the assembly option. The improvement in ride quality was noticeable."

Priya S.

Abbotsford, BC · Nissan Altima

"I moved to Abbotsford two years ago and needed to find a reliable shop. A neighbour recommended Triplet. I've since brought both of our vehicles here for various services. The pricing is fair, the work is done right, and they actually call when the car is ready — which sounds basic, but not every shop does it."

James O.

Abbotsford, BC · Subaru Outback

"Oil change with a multi-point inspection. They noted that my rear brakes were getting close to the minimum and showed me photos. Didn't push me to do it right away — just flagged it for my next visit. Appreciated that approach."

Common Questions

If you have a question we haven't covered here, give us a call or send a message through the contact form.

Contact Us
Do I need an appointment for an oil change?
We accept walk-ins for oil changes when bay space is available, but booking ahead ensures we can fit you in at a specific time. You can call or use the contact form to schedule.
How long does a typical service take?
Oil changes typically take 45–60 minutes. Brake jobs usually range from 1.5 to 3 hours depending on what's involved. Engine diagnostics take 1–2 hours for the assessment, and repair time varies based on what's found. We'll give you a time estimate when you drop off.
Do you use OEM parts or aftermarket?
We use quality aftermarket parts from reputable suppliers (such as Moog, Monroe, Bosch, and NGK) for most repairs, and OEM parts when specifically requested or when the application requires it. We'll tell you what we're using before we order.
What's covered under your parts warranty?
Parts and labour are covered for 12 months or 20,000 km (whichever comes first) on most repairs. Some specific components carry longer manufacturer warranties. Ask us when you book if you have a specific concern.
Will you call before doing any additional work found during the inspection?
Yes — always. We'll only do the work you've authorized. If we find something additional during the service, we'll contact you to explain what we found, give you an estimate, and wait for your approval before proceeding.
Do you work on electric or hybrid vehicles?
We handle general maintenance and non-high-voltage repairs on hybrid vehicles (brakes, suspension, oil changes, etc.). For high-voltage battery systems and major EV-specific repairs, we'll advise you if a specialist is more appropriate for the work involved.
Can I get a written estimate before you start?
Yes. We provide written estimates before beginning any repair work. The final invoice will match the estimate unless something unforeseen comes up — in which case we'll call you first.
